Maui Pizza that you'll love!

To be honest, the last thing visitors think of is the potential for epic pizza places on Maui. And though we don't have many, the pizza joints on this list are truly top-notch. Unique to Maui pizzas are the local ingredients and toppings you can generally only find here. Step outside of your normal pizza zone and try ordering something distinctly local. You might be surprised!

1 - Restaurant Marlow (Upcountry)

One of the newest restaurants on Maui, Marlow has quickly become our favorite spot for dinner (and now open for lunch 11 am - 2 pm Wednesday through Sundays). Chef Jeff Scheer is famous with locals and visiting foodies due to his winning chef of the year by bringing truly unique and delicious dishes to his Maui Chef Tables at the Mill House. He now has his own restaurant in Pukalani, right next to Mahalo AleWorks. They've even got a deal where you can order pizzas and have them delivered to Mahalo! Woodfired sourdough and locally sourced meats and vegetables bring this pizza spot to a whole new level while maintaining a casual environment. 2 - The Outrigger Pizza Company (Kihei)

Blink and you'll drive right past it. Outrigger Pizza Company featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives," is a tiny, yellow trailer parked in the Kukui Mall parking lot in Kihei. The wood-burning oven, built into the trailer, produces high heat and great pizza. Fast. From the time you order to your first bite is less than 10 minutes. The pepperoni is excellent, but for a good, local treat, try the kalua pork with lilikoi drizzled sauce. At prices that run from $8 for a three-cheese pizza to $15 for a supreme, this is one of the best bargains on Maui. 3 - Prison Street Pizza (Lahaina)

While relatively new to Lahaina, the owners of Prison Street Pizza have been making their signature "Jersey-style" thin-crust pizzas on Maui since 2006 when they opened the ever-popular Serpico's Pizzeria in Pukalani. Where Serpico's serves breakfast and a full Italian menu, Prison Street really focuses on the pizza. We're always happy with the Serpico's Special. 4 - Kapena's Kitchen (Lahaina)

The newest addition to Maui's pizza scene is in Lahaina at 505 Front Street. Though the restaurant is new, the owners are legends you've likely heard of. The Coon ohana has been operating the Trilogy boats since the early 70s, and their roots aren't just in sailing. They LOVE good food, and now they're able to cater their boats from this location. 5 - Fabiani's (Wailea and Kihei)

This Italian restaurant serves up a nice, full menu of Italian classics. It's some of our favorite Italian food on the island. Ordering pizza is tough with so many other options, but we recommend you try it. The Makena Meaty is our favorite. It's the only pizza we've ever had with Portuguese sausage. Can we just say how happy we are that they don't put pineapple on it? Both locations offer 50% off pizza while dining in the bar during happy hour. 6 - Flatbread Company (Paia)

With 100% organic crusts and homemade, nitrate-free pepperoni and sausage, Flatbread Company serves up fresh, piping hot pizzas from their massive wood stove. For something you probably can't get on the mainland, we recommend trying the kalua pork. Gluten-free crusts are available. Located in the heart of Paia, Flatbread Company gets both crowded and hot, but it's worth it. We nearly left these guys off the list since they are part of an east coast chain. But hey, the pizza is good, and for this list, that's what really matters. Order pick up at Flatbread Company or walk in and hope to get a table!

7 - Pi Artisan Pizzeria (Lahaina)

Using locally grown produce and meats, dough made fresh daily, and featuring homemade sauces, mozzarella, and sausage, Pi Artisan Pizzeria definitely lives up to the "artisan" part of its name. The pizzas are cooked fast and hot in their 800-degree wood-burning oven. Prices start at a reasonable $10 for a cheese pizza to $18 for the seared ahi pizza.
