(UPDATED JUNE, 2019)
It's been said that every hour is happy hour on Maui. But not every hour on Maui features special prices on food and drinks. That's what makes happy hour even happier! This is a list of our favorite happy hours on the west side. For a list of our favorite happy hours in Kihei/Wailea, click here.
- Sea House at Napili Kai (Napili)
With over 20 food items, including salads, pastas, ribs, crab rolls, tacos, gluten free items and more, Sea House features one of the largest happy hour menus on Maui. If you thought the food menu was large, the drink menu is even more expansive, including everything from touristy drinks like lava flows and mai tais to a wide assortment of beers and wines. If you're out in Napili, Sea House is a must visit for happy hour hunters. Oh, did we mention the view? The restaurant sits on Napili Bay affording you an unobstructed view of the water. Happy hour runs daily from 2:00 - 4:30. (Sea House at Napili Kai)
- Kimo's (Lahaina)
A Front Street fixture, Kimo's features a rooftop bar overlooking the ocean. It's one of the best places on the island to watch the sunset, so you might as well start at happy hour, which runs from 3:00 - 5:00, and munch away the time until the sun sets. The happy hour menu features kalua pork cheese fries, Asian barbecue beef ribs and much more, along with an assortment of beer, wine and drinks. It's not on the happy hour menu, but we also highly recommend Kimo's Original Hula Pie, made with macadamia nut ice cream on a crumbled chocolate cookie crust, covered in chocolate fudge, whipped cream and more mac nuts to top off your evening. (Kimo's)
- Hula Grill (Ka'anapali)
Located on the beach in Ka'anapali's Whaler's Village, Hula Grill's Aloha Hour runs from 3:00 - 5:00 P.M. daily and offers a nice assortment of pupus, including an interesting beef poke lettuce wrap made with crisp, dry aged ribeye. It's basically poke using steak instead of tuna. We didn't think we'd like it, but we were pleasantly surprised. They also offer $6 wine and drafts and assorted $6 cocktails. There's live music through the Aloha Hour. (Hula Grill)
- Ruth's Chris (Lahaina)
Ruth's Chris happy hours vary by location, but the Lahaina version is really great. Veal osso buco ravioli, crab stuffed mushrooms, and seared ahi sashimi headline the menu at the Lahaina Ruth's Chris. While still not "cheap," all the happy hour food items are priced under $15. The bar is comfortable and there's usually a game on the lounge TV. Happy hour runs from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. in the bar. (Ruth's Chris)
- Fleetwood's on Front Street (Lahaina)
Famed Fleetwood Mac founder Mick Fleetwood owns this Front Street hot spot. The lounge features live music and $1 oysters, $3 shrimp cocktail, and $8 mahi mahi fish tacos on its 12-item happy hour menu. Happy hour runs from 2:00 - 5:00. At 5:45, head on up to the roof for a nightly sunset ceremony, featuring live performers talking story of culture, history, beauty and fun. (Fleetwood's on Front Street)
